If you're fearful or anxious about visiting the dentist, pill sedation and nitrous oxide are available.   No pain, except for the initial deadening. Dentist was very good, explained each step. This was a long appointment, as there were two teeth that needed fixed. I really appreciated that I could be set up anytime they were not working on me.
